We start this month with the celebration of the internationally renowned Moors and Christians festivities in Alcoi from the 3rd to the 5th of May. This is an unusual date happening this year on the same date as if it were a late Easter week. Although these festivities are traditionally held around 23 April, St. George's Day, it is not the first time that the Festivities have been moved to May. In years such as 2019, 2014, 2011 and 2003, this change occurred due to similar circumstances.
Some advocates of the permanent shift argue that May offers a more favourable climate for the celebrations, but there are also those who think that the date of these traditional festivities should not be changed, nor modified, as is the case when they are moved to a weekend. Ladies and Gentlemen... The controversy is served.
As it could not be otherwise, our cover this month corresponds to the poster of the already viral artist and friend Ximo Canet...
“Per Alcoi i per Sant Jordi, avant l’Entrà”. (For Alcoy and for Saint George. Forward, the Parade).
